Whirlybird Run is a clone of the arcade hit Scramble. Spectral Associates, which published the game, had a game writing contest in 1982 (It was supposed to be annual, but it only ran once). The top 3 winners got cash prizes, and their game published under contract with Spectral. Whirlybird Run was the 1st place winner, netting the author $2000 and the publication contract (and the Prism trophy).
The game features 5 different levels, the first three being in daylight conditions, and the last two in dark conditions, with small winding tunnels. Quite a lot was crammed into 16K.
