Orbitron is an original arcade game for two players that was originally released in 1982 under the name Orbitroids, by the software subsidiary of Creative Computing magazine. Not long after this original release, Creative Computing decided to get out of the software publishing business, as they felt it was improper to compete with their own advertisers in their own magazine. So it was sold under a different name (Orbitron) from AHL Computing. As for the game itself, in David's own words:
Orbitron has several planets orbiting a central star, moving at various speeds according to their distance from it, the closest moving fastest. At the sides of the screen, two players or one player vs. the computer have vertically moving spaceships firing horizontal missiles to blow up the planets for points, also firing at opponent for points. After all planets are destroyed, they reappear for each of 10 rounds per game. The number of missiles per round is limited.
