Jungle is a text based game where the player has to travel and fight their way through a 2000 mile magical jungle trail and recover the lost treasure of Omar... who is in charge of the opponents that the player will meet. Various things can attack the player, and they can fight back with specific weapons that they have in their inventory (and number of men - the player starts with 10). The player can move in all 4 directions, camp for the night, search for hidden features, trade items, hide and dig as they go along. Once in a battle the player selects the weapon (hopefully to properly match up against whichever opponent the battle is with), and then gets to pick between attacking or retreating each round of battle. In an attack sequence, the opponents start fairly far away, and each round they get closer and closer. So in some cases ranged weapons are more appropriate than hand to hand combat.

The game seems to be quite based on randomness for encounters, etc. (and reminds of 1979's Creative Computing's game Camel in that sense), so there is not as much strategy to it as one would expect (and hope for).
