Feuer and Gasse (Fire and Gas) is a wargame simulation, concentrating on a specific battle from World War I, taking place on the Western Front from June 4 until July 10, 1918, sometimes referred to as The Battle of Belleau Wood. The title of the game is in German, and the battle is one of the early ones where American forces stopped the advances of the German ones in "The Great War", and thus helped signify the start of the turnaround in the war. The start date of June 4 is when Major General Bundy took command of the American sector on the front. It was one of the bloodiest battle for the U.S. forces during the war.

The simulation features a combination of text and semi-graphics, and you command various types of troops and defend yourself from artillery attacks, poison gas and other things. After you succeed at your initial objective, you can also ask for air support. To capture your objectives, you have to keep them under control for a certain number of turns. It features some very well done sound effects for an Extended BASIC program, and is one of a series of simulation games that C. Edward Hetzler did for Picosoft Games.
