Bagitman is a clone of the arcade game Bagman. You are a thief, trying to steal money from a mine while dodging prospectors. You can outrun your opponents normally, but once you pick up a bag of gold, you are greatly slowed down. You have to drop the gold off in your wheelbarrow, and move it between the 3 screens to get all of the gold (the 3 screens seen above all connect together, making the actual playfield 768 pixels wide). You can pick up pick axes to temporarily knock out the prospectors, or stick the wheelbarrow over a ladder so that they knock themselves out by running into it. You can also hitch rides on the elevator (which the prospectors can do as well), and also ride the minecars if you grab a hold of the handholds above your head, and jump into the car at just the right time. This also makes you invulnerable from the prospectors.
