Subject: CyberTank - release for download Date: Mon, 1 Apr 2002 12:55:55 -0500 From: "Ottmar Bochardt" To: curtisboyle@sasktel.net Hi Curtis. Your site is quite impressive - a real "blast from the past". I'm the author of CyberTank for the CoCo. Ron Krebs (Mark Data Products) returned the rights to me in August 1990. I no longer have any related files, but if you have any binaries of the game feel free to post them on your site for downloading. In return for that, there are a few corrections I'd like you to make :-) 1) Please list my name as: Ottmar Bochardt. 2) The original CyberTank worked on CoCo 1/2 ONLY. 3) CyberTank didn't need, nor use, joysticks. CyberTank used all available memory on a 64K machine, including the page at $FE00. Rainbow published a Coco 3 article describing how a certain control bit at $FF90 or thereabouts _might_ disable the registers but when I tried it didn't work. Mark Data Products pulled out of the Coco market around that time so I didn't follow up; it's possible that a more complete workaround was eventually discovered. I am also the author of Zone 6. It was marketed by ColorQuest for a short time in 1983 until they bailed out of the Coco video game market. Zone 6 ran on a 16K Coco 1. It should also work on Coco 2 and Coco 3, although their higher CPU speeds might mess up the sound effects. If you have access to any copies of Zone 6 you can put them on your web site as well. Was this due to overwriting GIME registers, or what? My "broken" copy didn't seem to have a problem... or did you patch it to run on the 3 later? > > 3) CyberTank didn't need, nor use, joysticks. > > Ottmar Bochardt > 6809 developer - in another life I will do the updates you requested, and put the game up for download. Thanks for the permission! Did you do any other games for the Coco?
